The Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem

The Bible Lands Museum in Jerusalem is the perfect place to gain a better knowledge of the characters and lands of the Hebrew Bible.

Located in Jerusalem’s museum campus, next to the Israel Museum, the museum is rife with maps, timelines, and charts of different time periods, all of which serve as aids to help visitors gain a deeper understanding of the historical items in the museum’s collection and stories from the Bible.

The museum boasts a rare collection of historic findings, most of which belong to Dr. Eli Borovsky. The collection spans many cultures that had contact with Israel in ancient times – the Samarians, Babylonians, Aramaeans, Egyptians, and Persians. The displays in the museum stray a bit forward and backwards in time – some are from the pre-historic period and some are from the Byzantine period. The museum’s permanent displays encompass a variety of interests including agriculture, writing, art, war, and worship. The museum houses one of the world’s largest collections of seals from the Biblical period.

Alongside the permanent exhibitions there are also temporary exhibitions, appropriate for the whole family, including guided tours and activities. In addition, the museum houses study and research rooms as well as a rich library.
